There is an Iranian study that has found that drinking three cups of chamomile tea daily can be the very thing, which can help a person with Diabetes, to actually improve control of their blood glucose levels. This fascinating discovery is aimed towards those who suffer from Type 2 Diabetes.
Some researchers from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences did decide to aim the investigation right at just how chamomile tea does seem to affect both glycemic control and antioxidant levels in those who are afflicted with Type 2 Diabetes. What are antioxidants? They are the very chemicals that do protect or delay against cell damage happening.
There were 64 participants in number with Type 2 Diabetes that were recruited specifically for this research study. The test subjects were all between the ages of 30 and 60 years old. What they did was to consume chamomile tea for three times each day and immediately after eating meals for a period of 8 weeks long. There was also a control game, which did follow this chamomile tea drinking routine, but they drank water instead.
Those who were members of the chamomile tea drinking group had managed to significantly lower their HbA1c and serum insulin levels overall. They also did significantly increase their total antioxidant capacity compared to the others in the control group.
Researchers have been able to conclude one thing and this one this is this. Chamomile tea was definitely useful in helping to lower certain Diabetes risk factors. They added: “The short-term intake of chamomile tea does indeed have beneficial effects where glycemic control and antioxidant status is concerned in patients who do have Type 2 Diabetes.”
Nonetheless, researchers did note one thing, and this one this is that in a larger sample population. A longer period of intervention would be required in order to truly be able to demonstrate any real and significant clinical improvements.
